Our full blood Piedmontese herd is a work in progress, and a labor of love. Every calf born on the farm since 2014 has been an embryo transfer. Most of the embryos used were collected between the late 80's and early 2000's. As of May 2017 there have been 64 total Piedmontese calves born on the farm since 2014. The recipient cows that we have been using are mostly Black Angus, along with Canadian Speckle Park, Charolais, Hereford, Red Angus, Maine-Anjou, and Black Baldy. Our ideal recipient candidates for embryo work are cows that have given birth at least twice, are younger than 7 years old, have good udders, good structural conformation, and are bigger bodied (usually weighing between 1400 - 2000lbs).
